Espolòn Tequila: Designed for the Unexpected
Rooted in Mexican culture and known for its bold visual identity, irreverent personality, and iconic skeleton artwork, Espolòn Tequila has a brand world built around storytelling. For this experiential activation, I helped translate that established identity into an immersive physical environment, developing environmental graphics, printed collateral, and artwork for custom fabricated elements. Working alongside the creative and production teams, I carried Espolòn’s existing brand language into the space through typography, color, scale, and dimensional applications, creating a cohesive experience that felt distinctly Espolòn.
SIDE QUESTS | TALES OF THE COCKTAIL
EXPERIENTIAL DESIGN | ENVIRONMENTAL GRAPHICS | PRINT DESIGN | FABRICATION DESIGN | ART DIRECTION
For Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, Espolòn brought its playful, unconventional personality to life through Side Quests, a series of carnival-style games hosted by La Catrina, portrayed by RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars winner Crystal Methyd. The experience invited guests to step into Espolòn’s world through interactive challenges, bold branded moments, and a playful take on the brand’s distinctive personality.
Working from the creative direction, I developed the visual design across the carnival games, environmental graphics, printed materials, and custom fabricated elements, using Espolòn’s established brand identity and assets as the foundation. I worked directly with fabricators to bring the designs into the physical space, considering scale, materials, and production throughout the process. I also designed the custom fabric pattern for La Catrina’s dress, collaborating with fashion designer Mondo Guerra to translate the artwork into the finished garment. Together, these elements created a cohesive branded environment that carried Espolòn’s visual identity from the physical space through to its host.(click each image to expand)
